Im new to ARs and will be building an AR shortly. I dont really have any tools on hand. Are there any tool kits that are recommended to buy to make my build easier?

I assume you have a stripped lower, LPK, and upper correct?

ARFCOM: Assemble your own LOWER, UPPER, FREE FLOAT, TRIGGER, GAS BLOCK - Step by step instructions! (http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782)

Honestly... there are NO special tools necessary. Some will argue its good to have roll pin holder tools, roll pin punches, etc..etc... the only tools I feel are really necessary are a small brass punch.... and light hammer. Everything else can be improvised.

I agree. I built my first lower with a small brass hammer, needle nose vise grips, a razorblade and a roofing nail. Two hours on my living room floor watching the first episode of Star Trek TNG....I had the rifle fully assembled before I realized Wil Riker was going to be the man-whore of the show...lol
