No 10 + mags in EBR's .... yadda yadda... but what about their pistol cousins. Don't know if this has been covered, couldn't find it in the search. 10+ mags are all legal, purchased pre 2000... can I use these on my AR or AK pistol.

Nope.....same rules and EBRs.

10rd fixed mag only. +10 makes it an assault pistol, even if +10mag is locked.

your pistols require the mag locks and the law says no 10+ round mags in a maglocked weapon.so id say its a no go.

Unless of course you like long walks on the yard with your hand in someguy's pocket.

Yes.

If its not semi auto...meaning you manually cycle it each pull, you don't need a bullet button or 10 round. You can use a 100rnd drum if you like.

Snorky is begging for a left side charging handle

unless there was some way to make a crazy grip that goes around the mag well

Without the traditional pistol grip, I think this would be really unwieldy to shoot. Also, I wonder if it would trigger an AOW status because if the trigger was behind the grip, the gun would inherently require more than one hand to shoot -- unless you've got some crazy double jointed thumb ability I've never seen before).

I actually asked about this in another thread a few weeks ago because in conjunction with a traditional rear grip, I was wondering if it would count as a VFG (and therefore the whole weapon is an AOW). After all, these magwell grips are designed for you to wrap your thumb around them...

What do you guys think?

Dangerously close.

You could argue that the 2nd one (pretty ugly IMHO) is simply a guide to ease mag installation, but the better looking one with finger grooves on it is definitely intended to be used as a grip.

Another gray area where a DA might press charges would be taped or stippled mags, particularly if the texture is applied only to the front areas.

just to clarify to the OP. the magazine is outside of the pistol grip, therefore to make it not an AW it needs to have a fixed mag. i know every one hinted at it, but nobody told you why. i imagine somebody somewhere could come up with a bullpup design utilizing the magwell as the pistol grip with the trigger assembly forward of that.(the end there seems worded strangly but ive had a long day and i couldnt find any better words) oh and thanks to all the guys here and independent armory, i should have my ar pistol by the next time im in the states. a big thank you to everyone who answered all my questions and dmitry from IAC for putting up with me.
