Good thing they don't have the Ruger SR22 when I walked in there 2 weeks ago otherwise they will renew my hatred. :)

I remember when Turners use to be the biggest buttheads on the planet here in Cali, talking smack about AR's etc, ONLY because they were TOO STUPID to understand the law. I'll never shop there again, unless there was a Red Head nekkid in the store. Hey, just saying.

you do know that it was previous ownership that was talking smack? The new owners are making a effort to bring the new Turners into the OLL mix.

I'll take the double D's with a side of tequila. : ) I have a good relationship with everyone at Norwalk Turners. Some still don't get it when it comes to AR's but other than that, they are great.

yup.

Turner's Outdoorsman is purchased; will be run by its former operations manager

O N T A R I O - T u r n e r ' s Outdoorsman, a 13-store chain of retail
stores in Southern California specializing in firearms, hunting, and
fishing gear, was purchased Monday (June 8, 2009) by four investors.

The investors include one name very familiar to Turner's insiders, Gene
Lumsden, who currently lives in Reno, Nevada. The new owners also
include John and David Fuller from Australia and the Sporting Goods
Fund, a sporting goods group out of the United Kingdom.

Lumsden, who was formerly vice president and operations manager of
Turner's when it was still owned by Shirley Andrews, will become the
president and chief executive officer of the firearms chain.

The amount of the sale was undisclosed, but the new partnership now owns
the controlling interest in the company and will be taking over
day-to-day management immediately.

Lumsden, the Fuller brothers, and the Sporting Goods Fund are also
currently partners in the ownership of Legacy Sports International, a
firearms importing business in Reno, Nev., that brings sporting rifles,
shotguns, handguns and optics into this country. Legacy Sports has made
the Howa bolt action rifle, Puma lever-action rifle, and Escort shotgun
lines well-known across the country through aggressive marketing and
advertising campaigns and competitive pricing.

And in the months since then, they've been selling vz-58's, AKs, and other off-list evil stuff. They are still cautious by selling fixed-mag or featureless versions instead of BB-equiped stuff, but it is far better than they were last year.

I've spoken with their director of store operations a couple of times in the last month or so... they're really working to turn things around. had a really good chat with him about calguns too... the folks in charge now really do get it. might take them a few months to get things worked out, but I can tell you they are really trying to make it right, and they're working the plan.

I went in to the one in San Marcos looking for ammo bi had heard they were sold and was hoping for a new attitude. Same attitude and they were selling .22 lt for $35 a brick. I just bought some ar walmart for 14.95. I laughed in their face and walked out. They lost me for good

The San Marcos store is a good store with good guys and gals in it. If you have a problem in that store it might by you. Some of the ammo is expensive I will grant you that. If Walmart stops selling ammo it will hurt the pocket book.

ok, so let me ask you about that... looking to understand what you're seeing. what attitude are you getting?

I've been in the San Marcos store, had some pretty good interaction there, so tell me what your experience was, what you didn't like besides price?

I didn't spend much time I was in there last. Saw the price on the ammo and got turned off. I won't support local stores if I can get it cheaper elsewhere or online.

The attitude before the change was just cocky, bad CS, know-it-all counter people who actually knew nothing. Mis-information galore, unwilling to hear correct information.

And then when I tried to transfer my CA legal AR in they wanted 100 for the transfer fees plus the 25 DROS. Again, I laughed at them and found a guy that would do it for 50. Money talks, and they are NEVER getting anymore of mine. And I will never recommend anyone there again either. I'm not the only one with these feelings, everyone I know who has shopped at turners is not happy with them anymore.

Yep, after a visit to their Orange site (it had been 20+ yrs for anything gun-related, & corporate-wide at that), I have to agree w/ most of the above gripes. Doesn't apply to the angling section at all, 'cuz we've been supporting that end almost constantly over the same era.

Background: I recently bought a C&R K98k that I found as an online consignment, & a fair deal at that. Their 1st guy was great, but slow to respond (imagine waiting 20+ minutes to get noticed). I paced the showcase that entire episode. Store had 4 employees, incl the cashier on that day.
8 days later (at DROS), there were no less than 7 employees milling about, everywhere - talking/arguing/bickering, etc. I then asked the guy w/ the biggest mouth if there was anybody actually "working today". It got a couple chuckles & of course a real dirty look from that dyk-head, who wasn't happy at all to be called-out (or much of anything else) & then subsequently assist myself. Live w/ it.

So, pyss on 'em in the future - I'll shop the online traders, both here & elsewhere.
