Well, I did what I always wanted to do. I wanted to try out my .38 Super on a Javalina in AZ but never was able to. So, this past weekend I managed to get a little forked-horn with a double tap right behind it's left shoulder. I reloaded a 140grain XTP and chrono'd 1160 fps out the muzzle.
So I thought that would be good on a small deer if given the chance. Well, opportunity had it and I got it.
The deer was about 20 feet from me as I came around a bend in the road of the Nat'l forest I was in. I was able to draw and fire my Colt really well and the deer took 3 steps back before it's front legs collapsed. It was DRE (dead right there).
I was happy with it. Generally though I usually stick with my .44mag as a sidearm to my hunting rifle.
