Does anyone have a video on how to remove the MMG off of an AK?

I noticed that there seems to be two parts to it?

I guess I just unscrew it and both parts will come off. Am I correct?

Also, to remove the stock, do I just unscrew that one screw? How about the handgaurds?

Two things.

The MMG is attached via an AK to AR pistol grip adapter

Then you attach the MMG to the above adapter

Pretty simple.

How about the handgaurds?

There is a lever at the rear sight block to release the top hg (Gas tube), and a lever at the front retainer to release the lower hg.

So do I have to remove the gas thing (sorry if not correct term) to remove the upper handgaurd? I never completely took it off before. I'll probably have to check an AK manual out.

Top picture.

Here it is:

So if I can get a different adapter, the grip part will work on an AR? Would it work with an A1 stock?

You have this...

http://www.tenpercentfirearms.com/images/akadapter1.jpg

It gives you the option to install AR pistol grips on a AK. Your MMG actually is designed for a AR15, so no adapter needed.

If you remove the MMG off your AK, then it needs a maglock.

Actually it is still featureless if I remove the MMG.

They go for sale in the FS forum here without an MMG all the time to.

But say I want to put it on my AR-15, do I just not use the adapter? Just install the grip part? I want to go with a featureless AR so it would be great if I don't have to buy another grip.

But not if you install another pistol grip.

Have you fired the AK without a PG grip yet?

Hold on to it... Check the MMG web site, they are no longer making the wooden MMG or the AK adapter.

As long as you have a standard A2 stock on the AR, you should be GTG with the MMG.
If the AR has a telescoping stock, then it needs to be changed out to be featureless.

Obviously it won't have a PG. It will be removed so I can sell the rifle (want to keep the MMG).

My AR will either have an A1 or A2 stock with no flash hider. No other evil features either, so it should be good to go.

When a MMG is put on an AK, it has to be cut and trimmed to fit the shape of the AK stock/receiver/adapter. So if you take it off, and plan on putting it on an AR, it may not fit or fill the grip/stock area as well as it should..

I would like to second this. I'm someone who recently found a new wood AK MMG and knows how hard they are to find..

Keep the AK MMG unless you are SURE you wont need it or until the CA AWB is voided, but then keep it anyways to remind yourself of the "bad old days". :D

Excellent idea.
Even though I don't care for the look, I'd like to have a wooden one just to finish in a sweet cherry red, and if the California AWB goes away, it would be a sweet "relic" to mount in a shadowbox and hang on the wall.

Mine is black and I do plan on keeping it, which is why I want to remove it. ;)

Can anyone tell me the name of the tool that I need to remove it with? I am really bad with tools/terminology.

I don't know what it is called, but I saw one in my garage a week ago and can't find it now. So I need to ask one of my friends if they have a "thingy". :p

Also, I checked the website and it looks like they are discontinuing both for the AK? Anyone know why? I like mine a lot.

Thanks, that is the name of it. Will have to take another look around the house. The one I have looked like the proper size.

Anyone know the specific size the MMG needs?
