Looking for a mobile long range gun want to keep a rifle/carbine KISS configuration. I have heard .308 needs a 20" barrel - I don't need to be tacticool looking (which I know the 16" is).

DPMS 18 for compromise... Honestly I would go with the longer though.

If you are looking for a long range AR-10 then 20" is the way to go. Personally, once I have the funds I will get a 22" Krieger barrel for my long range needs and 18" for the rest (I have a 20" now).

Mobile and long range are competing parameters. First one needs to determine how mobile it needs to be, and what specifically defines long range.

My Armalite upper is currently at Krieger for a 20" 308 with a 12 twist. They said that would be a good well rounded barrel.

go with the 20 you will get better performance with it if your long range shooting.

and go with something better then the armalite barrels. I would go with Krieger, Lilja, Rock Creek. Just to name a few.
