I tried ordering some 702gr .50BMG from sportsmansguide.com but they wouldn't let it go through even though I'm not on the prohibited list of counties that can't recieve ammo shipments. They're the only retailer of .50BMG I see around, I need only like 20rnds. Midway has 10 for 45$, too much.

Is it possible to mail-order .50BMG?

And second, where's a good place for inexpensive K31 strippers? Sportsmansguide has them for 3 for $20, anybody use someone else? I also heard Mosin-Nagant strippers can work too...anybody give that a try?

Where are you, buddy? In fact, there are several counties in CA that ammo vendors won't ship to. Are you in one of them?

There are a lot of mail-order ammo vendors with 50BMG. The 50BMG stuff is never cheap!

SG will not ship .50BMG to CA, but other suppliers will (assuming you are not in one of the ammo restricted counties).

Try J&G Sales:

I get them from Numrich...they go for $5.80 each in excellent condition, or $5.20 with an 03 FFL and dealer account.

J&G ships ammo to CA. Just order from them if you want to buy mail order.
When is the next gun show near you? What about buying it at the gun show?

You can try PMing "cruisermat" and inquiring about the 50BMG ammo he's trying to sell.

Holy crap! My match ammo costs me less than half that to reload! Plinking rounds are even less. Save your brass and, when you have enough, you're more than welcome to use my reloading equipment.

How long do those K31 strippers last?

I've reused mine at least a dozen times, and they look like they'll last quite a bit longer. Since they are made of fiber paper, they don't take abuse. So don't crush or tweak them, and they'll last awhile.

Have you tried Mosin-Nagant strippers on your K31?

Nope. Mosin strippers fit into a groove in the bolt, and I'm pretty sure the K31 doesn't have a groove like that. Plus GP11 is not a rimmed cartridge, so they may not stay in a Mosin stripper very well.

Finding 50 bmg is way way easier than finding any ammo for the barrett .416.
and when I can find it its full freaking price.
ahhh the horror
