I have heard a lot of great things about Noveske, Daniel Defense, and Colt.

How about Spikes Tactical, DPMS, RRA?

I am trying to build my AR so I don't feel like I went super cheap, but I also don't have an unlimited budget.

My lower is a Spikes Tactical with the Spikes LPK.

LMT, CMMG, too.

Spike's doesn't make most of their stuff, so it depends what exactly you are asking about. For the most part Spike's has pretty good stuff. RRA is decent, I have no problem using their stuff. Less LPKs and a few other things I pretty much stay away from DPMS.

Rock River Arms and Bravo Company are the best!!!

I am looking at uppers also and will probably pickup a BCM upper. I was thinking of going Noveske at first to have a matching upper and lower but the value you get with a BCM upper is just too good to pass up.

Bravo Company just dropped the pries on their 16" mid-length uppers. It doesn't get much better than that.

I have a stag and it has a few things that SHOULD be checked on this chart.

OP... Dont take anyones input on what is best, do your own research and come up with something that fits your needs as a shooter.

A safe bet though is to stay with an upper on that list though, even though the list is horribly inaccurate.

First of all ask your self this question, what are your plans for your rifle? Range plinker, carbine classes, SHTF? BCM and CMMG make quality uppers at an affordable price.

My personal favs, in no particular order:

Noveske
Larue
LMT

Colt has a nice upper out that may be a future buy for me.

For sale at Cope's Dist $999.99 (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showpost.php?p=3237258&postcount=76)

I want it to be a good zombie killer haha. Actually a range plinker would be nice but I cannot stand the normal A2 Front sight, I have 8 years in the military and hate that sight.

The ones aren't checked doesn't mean they don't do it. It means they don't do it for everything. For example, Stag/CMT does have MPI'd bolts. But they don't MPI every single bolt so they don't get a check. They batch test, the difference is BCM who does buy their bolts from CMT orders specifically what they want, so when they buy from CMT they order bolts that are in the batch given the tests.

Is this what you were concerned about?

Here is a bit more defined: http://gunfacts.webs.com/m4chart.png

I think LMT will be the best upper for the price!

I've had my DPMS uppers for years and shot them quite a bit, never had a problem with any of them, same thing goes for my Stag's and the customer service I've gotten with both of these companies is very good in my opinion.

Well at this point I think I have decided to go with either of these uppers from BCM.

Actually that's the latest update and not very old. The author put a lot of time into it, but if you have valid corrections I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.

Yeah it would be nice to correct it. Im sure people who actually own the rifles in question can offer insight.

Standard uppers dropped $50, the version with a cold hammer forged barrel dropped even more and the BCG dropped $20.

Bought my upper today from Armalite, got a great deal with their Thanksgiving Sale.
