So my rifle is finally doneÖfor now!

It took almost a year to finish because I bought the lower two weeks before Obama got elected and after he did get elected, inventory for parts that I needed either was sold out or was marked up way beyond I was willing to pay for. Iím very happy to finally finish the build and I plan on keeping it in this configuration for awhile because Iíll be focusing/saving up money for my handgun when I turn 21 (less than a month away in December).

The BCM upper locked up well with the Superior Arms lower although the finishes donít quite match (oh well). This rifle has a certain value to me because itís my first AR and itís a post-Obama build. Please critique.

SPECS:
Lower
Superior Arms OLL
Armalite standard LPK
Prince50 Bullet Button w/ Freelock Mini Lock
Magpul MOE buttstock w/ assembly
Magpul PMAG 10/30 (still waiting for delivery)

Upper
BCM 16íí Midlength upper
BCM BCG
BCM MOD4 charging handle
Midlength handguards
GG&G A2 BUIS

Finally finished

LOL... I think someone at GG&G must have pee'd in Techniques lemonade at some point. I got the same critique 8 months ago on a build utilizing a GG&G Dominator upper, and he could not stand the rear sight. NO offense taken- it's all good. I DO agree that there are some BETTER BUIS choices out there though.

needs optics. for a simple build I'd go M3 or the mini aimpoint everyone is flipping over at the moment. for a little longer range I would go with a 1-4 variable. I really like the new trijicon.

I was actually going towards the Magpul MBUS but I saw the GG&G BUIS on the "Private Firearm Accessories" for $55 shipped so I couldnt resist. Yeah I know everyone here prefers Troy:rolleyes: but at least the GG&G is all metal compared to the MBUS.

Yeah I was thinking Aimpoint Mini (I believe its the T-1 Micro)...but for now I plan on just learning how to use the irons and will upgrade after I buy a handgun in December (21 woohoo!!!!). What Trijicon were you talking about? The new ACOGs?

GG&G refused to repair an ACOG mount of mine...they claimed a carbine class isn't "standard use".
So what is? Looking at it?
I broke the thing when it got snagged on my gear. Luckily, Thats what BUIS are for...I have seen a few Aimpoint mounts of theirs fail in a similar fashion. There for, I do not use or recommend GG&G for anything.

On a side note, the rear sight (it has been a good long while since I have seen one) IIRC is much like the MI rear sight, it actually moves while you fire...now if you don't fire fast...you'll never even notice. But if you do you'll know what I'm talking about.

TROY is probly the best all around sight. No denying that. However you can pick up a MAtech to around $40....

Didn't mean to piss in your cheerios but you did ask for critique:D.
You did an excellent first build.

GG&G does make a few solid feeling sights, and a few that just suck. That $150 spring actuated BUIS is a solid and functional sight. I have had 2 of the apparent higher end sights, and they just feel almost airsoft like.

Its all good, i take "constructive" criticism well:D. The reason I dont like Matech is because I want dual apertures. I might just end up going with Troy...:kest::banghead:

The Matech aperature is not as small as you may think. I could not see myself using a hole larger on that style of sight. Also, because the peep arm stands alone without any side structures, the view is totally clean.
