View Full Version : Meg MIA again.. Another GOP debate tonight -- another Meg Whitman absence

10-28-2009, 4:06 PM

So there will be another GOP debate between the gubernatorial hopefuls at 7 p.m. tonight at Brandman University. State insurance commissioner Steve Poizner will be there. Former San Jose Rep. and state finance director Tom Campbell will be there.

And once again, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman will not be there. She has yet to participate in a debate with her opponents (this will be their fourth joint appearance without her). Not only is this starting to look fishy, but frankly we've heard all their jokes before and it's not even Halloween. C'mon Meg. Show up. (You can watch the Whitman-less debate here live online.)

Meg spokesman Tucker Bounds told us today Meg has her reasons: "Meg is focused on direct voter outreach, building strong grassroots coalitions and raising the resources necessary to win.''

Don't forget: "She's accepted the New Majority debate in March when the field is rounded out and Californians are actually paying attention,'' he said.

Oh, there are plenty of other reasons not to be there tonight. Game 1 of the World Series airs at roughly the same time. The Golden State Warriors season tips off. The ...uh.. Bay Bridge is closed.

Team Poizner alerts us -- as they are wont to do -- that Meg said back in May that she'd like to debate Poiz "three times" in the fall.

Team Poiz accepted and invited Meg to tonight's debate. But alas....

Hey, Team Meg: The leaves are falling. When are you going to show up to a debate -- before the March 15 one you've agreed to? How about the debates that CA GOP czar Ron Nehring told Comrade Marinucci he wants to schedule this spring?

It's been said she doesn't vote.

She doesn't debate either?

Might be she is afraid to actually have to answer some tough questions that she so far has refused to answer. I won't vote for her since we already know she is not 2A friendly and has other hairbrained ideas when it comes to how things should be done.

Quiet, Meg, the men are talking.

Maybe we should reconsider not supporting Meg. If she promises to not even show up for the job, she might be the right woman for it. Unfortunately we don't have a pocket veto in CA.

Totally busted up when I read that.
