Er, uh, except for self-made sixteen-time Billionaire Sergey Brin. And the rest of the population of this great country.

wait, so the guy is worth 16,000,000,000 dollars, and so far his whole family has given 30,000,000 to charitable causes? that's 30/16,000=3/1600 = 0.001875, or 0.1875%. assuming none of his other family members have any assets(which I doubt), so his personal donation rate is even lower than that.

Heck I have donated fifty times the proportion of my networth to the NRA alone.

I have the privilege of knowing some Americans of all backgrounds who donated most of their significant assets to universities, charities, etc. Mr. Brin has a lot to learn.

 he's free to donate to charity however much he wants.

Gates, Allen, and others make a strong argument for focusing on ramping up net worth first, and then giving it away when 'done'.

The rest of the article mentions exactly that.
