Gents (and ladies),

Please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area. As previously noted, I’m primarily a handgun enthusiast that recently moved to the PRK, thus have little working knowledge around rifles. Please indulge me in the following:

1) I’ve read much of what this board has to offer about FAB 10 builds. As best as I can tell, there is no possible way to perform a tactical reload with this (to borrow a phrase from another forum member) neutered dog, correct?
2) What’s the best value ammo to run through a 1/9 twist? I’m willing to pay a bit more for cleanliness. I hate dealing with corrosion.

Thanks in advance.

I use nosler balistic tip 55 grain in most of my reloads for 223. I like Hogdon extreme powders.

It's worth noting that our military is using 62gr rounds(SS109 GREEN TIP)through their 16 inch barreled M4's with the 1/9 twist.

This would work great in rifles like the new 16 inch barreled SU16CA as this US surplus ammo is pretty reasonably priced.

You can't use it at the private range though as it has the metal core.

Great. Maybe the ballistics aren't far off from a 14.5 inch barrel? I got the info from the Trijicon website since I want the scope that's calibrated to the 16 inch barrel with SS109.

From their site:

Well I'm not really looking for MOA accuracy or anything.

I just need an excuse to buy an ACOG. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

This is the stuff I want right there:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Lake City SS109:
Shot in a no-name parts 16" 1/9 twist, Lake City SS109 from Eric the ammoman, comes belted(!) in SAW packs, a bit of a hassle to take off the belts, but GREAT stuff. 1993 headstamp. This is excellent stuff, as good as I've seen for non-match grade ammo. Submitted by: jeph jeph@kuit.com </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Cheaper than Dirt is selling Lake City XM193 (55 gr) ammo, $95 per 500 rnds and Aim has SS109 ammo (RadwayGreen) for $150 per 900. Don't know if this is a good buy or not but thought I would pass it on.

On AR15.com, Zhukov has done a poll on .223 ammo. Most of the replies have been archived however the poll results are still tacked.
