Just how I like them.... clean and simple. The only 2 things I've added was the +2 Remington magazine extension and 18.5" barrel. I was very picky on the magazine extension because I had recently bought the Choate +2 extension and I didn't like the fit and finish at all.

what size barrel did you have before and hows it shoot in comparison?

I had the 21" vent rib barrel. I didn't like the style of the vent rib also (too crazy looking imo).

Nice. Is that extension parkerized or the Rem matte black? I have been shopping around for a parked extension for my 870P but can never get a good answer on if the finish will match.

It's matted finish. Check your PMs.

did you have to drill the dimples on the end of the mag tube first?

I used a dremel to smooth out the dimples inside. I didn't want to drill holes in the magazine tube because it was going to leave two holes.

Do you have any more pictures of this? I like it, most ppl when going for wood + short barrel use the police wood. I want to see moreee :)

The proper way to remove the dimples is to use a half round metal file for about 10 min. Then #000 steel wool to smooth everything out. Then your choice of liquid blue metal bluing agent.

Magazine tube swage for the 870. No need to file anything off.

It's the factory wood that came with the shotgun.

I have a two questions regarding the extension.

1. Once the dimples are removed is it possible to go back to the original configuration or is the mod permanent?

2. Which extension did you use?

PM me if you prefer.

I've been toying with this idea for a while but, I also didn't like the way some of the extensions looked. Yours turned out well.:)

ETA: the vent rib is designed to deflect heat waves so you get a clear site picture. It is real noticable when playing clay games on a hot day. It looks like a "V" shaped mirage with a clear tunnel to the bead.

1. No, its permanent.

2. Factory Remington extension, best fit and finish imo.

Ill have to pick up a set for my 870 it's set up like you're shotgun just synthetic it's the home defense run they had for awhile back in 09 factory extension and 18 inch barrel the wood looks awesome nice simple shotgun to take care of those bumps in the night.

The wood definitely looks nice...when you first buy it. I've got the same gun - minus the mag ext., with a longer barrel (28" for hunting), purchased about 2 years ago. After just a few (very light) uses the finish on the wood has started to fade rapidly in some spots. The wood & finish are very, very cheap. I'll see if I can get some photos up tonight, to show you what I mean.

Lets trade then synthetic for wood haha.

I've been thinking about getting the synthetic camo'd Shur-Shot stock and fore-end, since I'm going to use this gun primarily for turkey hunting. After I pull the wood off the gun, I'm getting rid of it. If you really want the wood, I can let you know when I do this.
