I saw mention of the Remington 760 in another post and instead of running off with that post I thought I'd start another.
I have been looking for a rifle, primarily for home protection. I have handguns, shotgun etc.looked at su16, Ruger mini 14, seriously looked at Marlin levergun, this 760 sounds good. What does it retail for, is it adaptable to scout configuration, I appreciate any and all information.

I am pretty sure that this rifle (the 760)

was replaced by the Remington 7600. If your interested in a slide action rifle, Remington LE produces a 7600P in 308 WIN with a parkerized finish and a ghost ring sight. http://www.remingtonle.com

"high power" cartridges such as the 308 do not always make the best home defense round, since they have the potential to penetrate walls and injur your nieghbors (possible http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif). The 7600P would make a great ranch rifle if you need the range.
