Hey.
Making an inquiry to the status of ammo at Mountain View Wal-Mart. I got a buddy who will be coming shooting for the first time, and he's bringing 2 others.
I asked if he could get some ammo at Wal-Mart since he works in Sunnyvale. He says Fremont was out, and is going to go out of his way to try Mountain View.
Is he wasting time and gas, or do they have some ammo? We need 22LR 40 S&W and 45 ACP
No Ammo in Fremont/Alameda County WalMarts, might try Milpitas.

That may have been the one he tried. I can't recall. I know he said one didn't sell ammo and the other was out.

Will do. Will make a post on the WTB too

I was there maybe a week ago and they had no handgun ammo(including .22LR). For the past year I go once in a while and have scored some pistol ammo maybe one out of every 5 trips. They resupply once in a while but then people buy it up fast.
They generally do have a good amount of shotgun ammo and rifle ammo (other than 5.56/.223 which I've seen them have maybe once out of every 3 trips).

He's really wasting time and gas going to Mt View. Their cupboards are bare most of the time. Forget about the 22LR, 40, and especially 45. In the past year, I've only see two boxes of 9mm on their shelf. Your best bet is the Marketplace forum.
Good luck, someone local may have some ammo for you.

Thanks, I let him know. It's his call if he goes or not. If he does, maybe he'll get lucky.

Tracy Wal Mart does carry ammo but I was there last Sunday and they were out of everything except 22 short, 17HMR and shotgun shells...

My friend stopped by Mountain View and picked up 4 boxes of Federal .45 ACP. Score!
No 22LR or 40S&W though. He says the sales clerk said it came in that morning, but sold out right away.

Nice! I was at Tabor's Shooting Supply this afternoon. Frank (the owner and gunsmith) has a lot of ammunition in stock. He just got a shipment in. I just bought a brick (500rd) of .22LR Centurion for $25/500rd. Prices are higher but it's a gunshop not Walmart.

mtn view usually gets their stuff and stocks shelves on moday mornings. when i was working i would make a point to take my lunch around 9-10 and was able to stock up on .22, i hit paydirt almost every week.

The 2 best places I can pretty much find 9mm and .22LR, and soon .223 is Sportmas Supply in Campbell and Bay Area Gun Vault in Mountain View.

kinda weird that they're mondays. last i was there earlier this year, it was tuesdays/wednesdays. but they seem to all vary across the week. i talked to our ups guy and he's having a hard time finding ammo. inside scoop from his friend at wally world some shady things are going on. mgrs calling friends immediately when ammo arrives so they get dibs. etc. i wouldn't be surprised especially when i see the .22lr for sale her for 1.5-2x the prices!
i feel bad for him because he's a new shooter too and can't use his 9mm since he can't find ammo. and where available, it's criminal prices! so i offered to help him out where he can find stuff online since he can't make gun show weekends, up until ab962 comes into effect unless it's defeated by then.

What are they charging for the mini mags. Wally gets $6.75 when you can find them. Sportamen's Supply wants almost $12.

when i was doing the ammo search at the milpitas wally mart i would call about 7 am on my way home from work... they will tell you if they got ammo in or not... i was fortunate enough to score 24 boxes of 9mm and 4 boxes of .45... but that was last year and i needed the 9 for a class :) my suggestion is to call and go down first thing in the morning... at that time they would get order in around 10pm the night before and be stocking first thing in the morning... just dont know if its still the same...
ps it was always the older asian guy i delt with...
