No fakies. No ear plugs. It was a pleasure. Lower recoil, too.

For a second there I thought you were being serious. I once made the mistake of accidentally shooting a .45 at an indoor range without earpro--there was nobody else in the range at the time, so my foolish error did not make itself known until I popped off the first shot. That mistake, like Garand Thumb, is only made once.

Very nice weapons there! I've never got the chance to shoot a suppressed weapon and have always been curious. I've been told they also offer near-100% flash elimination at night, is this true?

On a large tangent note, I think we chatted at Ft. Courage, was that you I was talking to about smashing primers with hammers as kids? If so, nice to put a screen name with a face...

It was daylight so I don't know about flash elimination, but it was so cool to only hear the crack of the rifle round in the air and the weapon cycling -- sounded like a .22 long rifle crack -- my buddy shot off a few rounds of "real" .45 auto ammo between our silenced shots and WOW! they were f'ing LOUD --! we had forgotten to put muff back ON when not shooting suppressed.

-- another thing, is three or four rounds of .308 fired and that suppressor was WAY TO HOT to touch. And fifteen minutes later they were STILL warm. You get your hands on a gun with a can -- don't get your hands on the can!

I guess the Ruger MKII with an intergal can that I shot must have been different. I've only shot surpressed .22lrs and a NFA MP5K w/can in 9mm. Niether of them got too hot aftet a couple hundred rounds.

Thanks. Yes, bored reloaders in HS. Looking at those primers. First were glued them into the open maw of CCI 200 grain hollowpoint .45 ACP loads -- hoping they would "blow up" on impact. Then we just put the primers on the concrete floor and hit them with hammers. Yes, I know -- but you have to understand -- in NY in the winter there was no going outside to the range.

Then in teh same basement (my friend Ray's) we shot a 12 gauge mossberg 500 into a stack of phone books -- bringing down 20 years of dust and spiders accumulated in teh rafters above our heads.

Ahh, I miss those days -- that's why I try to do fun gun stuff when I can.

The first thing the friendly Suppressor supplier said was, "now, these cans work by converting sound into heat. Don't touch them."

I guess the LOUD 5.56 and 308 generate a lot more heat than 22 and 9mm. I have caught an ejected .22 case and they lose heat pretty quickly because of the large surface area -- The only thing that I would have liked was a Desert tan can for some pics on the bolt gun, but this is "military weapon trade show" season, so only black cans were available

How can I get one of those cans?

-Hold a residence (primary/secondary) in a free State.
-Get CLEO sign off, or establish firearms trust.
-Find a dealer with the can you want and start the purchase process with them and the ATF.

I did that once. My first gun at 18 was a Mosin Nagant M38. I forgot the plugs and after I got to the land I did not want to turn around. After 20 rounds I was done. That was stupid.

Factory rep brought them there and stood just out of camera range. I just wanted to take ONE home...

I once made the same mistake with an M4 on a military range. Luckily we were outdoors because my ears would have been ringing even more than they were

First fired a Colt AR-15 in the Coliseum indoor range on Long Island. Wanted to hear how loud it was. NB: It was LOUD in that enclosed space!

how is the trijicon scope? Which reticle are you using in that one. I can't decide between the mildot, triangle, or getting a scope with BDC reticle / knobs.
