What part of SoCal are you located?
There's West End Gun Club near Fontana/Lytle Creek area
Here's a thread about the club:

Let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

If you want to see the range at West End,the gates are open Friday-Sunday 8am-4pm. Check in with Larry, the rangemaster ,he'll let you drive around and check out the property. He can answer any questions and get the membership process started.

Can't beat West End. $180 a year for 7 day/24 hour access to a 80 acre range.

Corona Sportsman, its by Lake Mathews. It is $150 a year. You can go to Annies get your gun (A good and friendly gun store) in Corona, to get all the information about it.

San Gabriel Valley Gun Club in Duarte.

Oh. Wait. The scum homeowners in the Mountain Cove development got it shut down.

How about Inland Fish and Game in Redlands.

Oh. Wait. The scum developer that bought the property next to the range got the range shut down.

Guess I got nothin for ya. Sorry.

Rainbow Range in Rainbow CA (Just South of Temecula) on the 15 FWY
$145 yr - Associate member for family $18yr. Rifle (100yd max), pistol, shotgun, trap club. Very convenient for SW Riverside County or North San Diego County residents.

Is there a outdoor range in South OC?

pennys dad, it sounds like West End would be your best bet. Once you get on the fwy, it's all fwy until you get off at Sierra and your basically there.

They even have an area up to 600yrds. per their web site.

Also, if you go there and let's say the creek is too deep or they just happen to be closed, you can just go to Lytle Creek. I know you are familiar with that place.;) That way it won't be a wasted trip.

If you google "where to shoot in california" there are plently of results but includes indoor. The only outdoor rifle ranges are pendelton (member only club) and Raahauges, who has a 100yd rifle range but you gotta pay $30.00 for 90 minutes to shoot, which is just plain silly to me. I rather spend that money on gas and head to the desert. That Corona Sportsman mentioned above sounds interesting.

I sure do miss the old South Coast Gun Club. I wish I knew the story behind that one. I grew up on that range. They were situated at Jeffery and the 405 but the homeowners who moved in around there conplained about the noise, at least that is what I heard.

Anyways, good luck.

The Inland Fish & Game Range was a great place to shoot! Its closed, for now...
