Nice Salmon, We are waiting for the run up the Sacramento River. We fish for about 200 lbs for the year and then we go out in Suisun Bay for Sturgeon. Can't wait for the Salmon Run, season opens 15 July, like up by Colusa. Takes about an hour or so from Vacaville but we fish all day Saturday and then until noon on Sunday, usually get 4 to 6 over 20lbs for the weekend. No fish fights better in the river against a 10 mph water flow. Nice Catch.

I'm in the Bay Area, where can I do salmon fishing without having to pay the chartered boats. Can you do river or shore fishing anyone?

Thanks

There are quite a few salmon caught off of pacifica pier every year if you know the technique... Fort Point pier in SF as well.... There are a couple of other secret spots but start with those two first.....

Several times while riding the bike trail between the San Leandro Marina and the San Mateo bridge I've seen guys salmon fishing from the bank about 2 miles north of the SM bridge. I've seen some very respectable salmon landed there. But you have to walk or bike in, no motor vehicles allowed.
