Shot my Wingmaster for the first time yesterday. Had my worst day of trap ever, by far. It just didn't feel as comfortable as my model 12. Any idea where I could go to get the shotgun fitted to me? How much should I expect to pay? Thanks for the help.

Look up Camanche hills sporting clays... They have a stocker and gunsmith on premises that does custom stock fitting.....

It's only an hour and a half from the east bay... I'll ask around about somewhere closer.... You can do like everywhere else in the world and just fly to Italy and get something made for you....

Are you shooting it with the standard stock? You might want to try and find something with a higher cheekpiece ie monte carlo style stock.

Your other option is to try and make something yourself.. I just reshaped and finished a stock blank I got from Wenig.. One of their All American Trap Stocks... Finish it to whatever length you want, adjust the size of the pistol grip... You can have them leave extra wood in areas you want to custom fit.... It turned out a lot better than I expected. The 870's and the 1100's are both really easy to make fit to the receiver... Try looking up Wenig gunstocks on Yahoo...

Mr Tate @ Camanche Hills is $500 per fitting.

He is one of the best but and there's always a big butt Mr Tate is a little expensive for an 870.

I'm to cheap to have him fit my 20ga Grulla SxS because I'm not sure I'm going to keep it. My daughter's schooling may force a sale and I know the 15" LOP is to long for me

Go out to the Martinez Gun Club on any Saturday or Sunday and there is a guy there with a mobile shop named Lance that fits guns to shooters. He will take care of you.

Here is the Gun Club number, maybe they can give you his number and you can ask his for a basic estimate over the phone to see what you are going to spend.

It's not ever going to feel as good as a Model 12, nothing will.

No 870 is worth that. After all it will still be just an 870 when you are done.

Remember that it costs the same amount to fit a shotgun regardless of cost. But you should be able to take the same measurements (LOP, cast, etc) and apply them to any other shotgun.

Is this just to use his try-gun and determine the required offsets? Is the work to change your stock in addition?

Dale does actual work on your stock to get it to fit you so it's included in
the price. I would run away from Lance even if it was an 870 you were
trying to get fitted.

Why would edbon9 "run away from Lance?"
