That's a good question IV, Do you have any suggestions? We figured that 11:00 would be a good time.

The last time I was there we ate at the Pizza place in the bowling alley, right next to the halls. I ordered a small and ended up taking 1/2 of it home. It cost about 4 bucks as I recall! The rest of the food was equally fair in price and quantity. Not the Ritz for sure but real close and decent quality.

You guys are pikers.

Save your appetites for dinner and then go get a good steak. Red meat makes the world go round.

Can't wait to hit Sterling's in Silver Legacy again.

(And I love the Nugget buffet on non-fish nights.)

I plan on heading back over the pass to make it home for dinner, that is, unless you’re offering to buy us dinner at Rapscallion?

Haha. I wish I were heading up and could meet the gang.

I usu try to turn it into a bit of a wknd. Too hard of a fight to drive 4+hrs up and 4+ back. (Depending on timing, getting out of bay area and in/out of Sacto traffic can be worst parts of trip.)

What kinda restaurant is Rapscallion / where is it??

Well whoever goes up Friday is welcome to join us for lunch at the pizza place.

MadMex, I will meet you at the entrance to the gun show. Look for a guy holding a Calguns logo on a piece of paper.

They pride themselves in their seafood, however, I go for the variety of red meat and game they offer. It looks and feels more like a high end steak place rather than a seafood place. A great, informal atmosphere and an awesome wine list, the kind of place to take the Mrs. for the anniversary or her birthday.

Anybody else been there?

Thanks for the info. Will have to try it next time I'm up there.

Have you tried the steakhouse at Western Village off 80 almost as you leave Sparks? It's the locals' secret. Western Village looks like a 24-pump gas station + Day's Inn style motel with a casino/cafe to the side.

But inside the steakhouse is WONDERFUL - both food quality and environment. We're not talking Black Angus here. It's a totally unexpected thing given the otherwise truck-stop appearance of its surroundings. Not cheap, but not SF prices either. Superb by any meat eater's standard. If I had to die in Reno, I wouldn't mind checking out after a meal at Western Village steakhouse and a day of shooting in the desert or Pyramid range ;-)

I saw the traffic jam, coming home on Saturday.
Carlos, It was a pleasure meeting and having lunch with you.
Well nobody tried to sell me a gun, prices were alittle high, and I guess nobody wants to deal on Fridays. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I'm gonna have to see about staying all weekend next time. Maybe I can get some deals on Sunday.

I went up Thursday night and came back Saturday late morning. I saw the terrible traffic jam on the other side of 80.

A few observations: I now know what free America feels like. With my C&R license, I bought a handgun, no questions asked, cash and carry. I also hit the CMP tables. I found two good six digit M1 Garands and a nice 1903 Springfield. I also bought a nice Turner sling and some Miwall ammo.

I spent a lot of money and had a good time. My wife was with me and we enjoyed the Hilton.

About 7 to 10 miles east of Colfax around 8am. We had to backtrack to 174 then 20.

We thought we'd get smart and bypass the detours. The radio was reporting the accident AT Colfax so we got on 174 and took some frontage road back to 80. We were the only ones on 80 until we hit the REAL accident backup on Nyack.

If you saw a silver minivan stopped in the middle of 80E parked sideways straddling both lanes, with a bunch of knuckleheads standing outside getting their picture taken, that was us.

I hit the backup about 1/2 mile west of Nyak at 7:30. It took almost 2 hours to get to the Nyak exit where they were turning everyone around. I backtracked about 22 miles to Colfax and then headed up to Grass Valley and took Hwy 20 through Nevada City and back to I80. The traffic wasn't bad at all once I got off the Colfax exit ramp and on to 174. Instead of getting to Reno around 8:30, I didn't get there until 12:15.

The accident was a multi big rig accident with at least one fatality. The highway wasn't opened until after 2:30.

I did pick up a nice Enfield Nr 2 Mk 1* revolver and tagged an M1917 at the CMP table.
