Ok, I see that the Governor signed AB962 into law. I have some questions, I hope someone can answer. 1st, When does it take effect?, 2nd, is it just handgun ammo that we can't order via the internet? Cabela's sent me a notice making it seem like it was just handgun ammo.

Also in the fingerprinting part, will it require just fingerprinting for handgun ammo and not rifle ammo?

Thanks anyone,

Many other posts will answer this. But, answers are 2/1/2001. Ammo that is "principally" handgun ammo (subject to interpretation). Yes, thumbprint for handgun ammo, but again, is something like 22LR handgun or rifle ammo.

Read the other posts, you will learn much more and save others from repeating much of it. You will have more questions answered by those posts.

Your title says bill 692, it is 962.

Takes effect in 2011, handgun ammo only and ammo that can be used both in handguns and rifles, like the .22lr

Sorry about the typo "692" "962", But so what I understand now is 2011 is when it becomes law. And it only concerns handgun ammo. ISo I should have no problem ordering via the internet for ammo, including handgun ammo before 2011? .22lr is so cheap, I think it's time to buy as much as you can before 2011 in case they include it as handgun ammo...500 rounds for $20 at Big 5 or Wal-Mart if they have any. I got as much .40 S&W as I could for my 40 so I am good. But I hope we don't take this lying down, I am sure that many have already talked of legal issues concerning this.

Schwarzenegger really disappointed me on this one...
