:eek: Ive been calling in to get it veto'd even though I dont own a handgun but as a rifle owner shooting .223 is AB962 going to banish internet sales od .223 since it can be fired from pistol configuration?

Unlikely as it's primarily a rifle round. There's pistols made to shoot just about any round that would normally be a rifle round, this one is for handgun ammo only(supposedly). That said, it still needs to go down in flames.

I'm not a pistol guy either, but I have still been lighting up the phone lines every chance I get. We can't give one inch! They came for pistols first in Australia and England. Next it was semi-automatic rifles...you get the picture.

But yes, I am also very very curious as to how they are supposed to define "rifle ammunition." It is next-to-impossible and I'm guessing we are going to end up with a totally arbitrary list.

yes, a slippery slope. First handgun, and then rifle, then soon even the .50 BMG, despite that we can't have it in the first place!

I think they'll start right off that if there is a pistol "exemplar" in a caliber, then it will be "regulated" by AB962.

I've been pounding the phone to get that vetoed. I like my rifles, but my .30 carbine has a pistol. My .223 rifle ammo is used in a pistol. I expect someone to pull up pistol exemplars in every caliber, including shotgun, just to have it get controlled.

Not trying to scare anyone, but I don't trust the legislature.

If they go that route, you can find a T/C chambered in just about any rifle caliber you'd want one in. Heck, some crazy bastards have even made revolvers chambered for various Nitro Express cartridges. Where is the line going to be drawn???

It's pretty scary.

Just let me say this, if the bill is signed:

DO NOT ASK THE QUESTION YOU DO NOT WANT ANSWERED.

I owned a .375 H&H Magnum pistol before. Would they say that's a handgun cartridge too?

I wouldn't mind .308 in a semi-auto pistol. :o

Those great pics reinforce my point that we don't see a problem with variations in handguns, based on rifle chamberings. The .gov does. They're scared s^%tless. They think every crook wants the 40mm grendae launcher in pistol chambering and we all know criminals want - small-cheap-easily concealable pistols.

They're clown who legislate based on fear-agenda-based motives, not actual data.

I think it would be easy to do the contrary - have a 9mm/.40/.45 etc rifle and get a seller to ship it invoiced/labeled as "rifle ammo"

I haven't read the bill closely but it didn't appear to have any language that would prohibit the above.

Hopefully this is all academic anyway...

Well, get a short .308 upper and a .308 lower. I can make a bobsled for it and a standard AR lock will work.:D

I already have a label template for my ammo labels that say "9mm 115gr FMJ RIFLE ONLY" on them. We'll see what happens.

It wouldn't go into effect until February 2011, so you have some time :)

I ordered a 375HH and then chickened out and switched it to a .460 S&W -- what was it like shooting the 375?

My various T/Cs have been in .30-30, .22 LR, .22 Hornet, 308 Win and 300 whisper -- all rifle AND pistol rounds.

I hate California.
You know, if all the tax payers left, Southern CA would just be a giant flea market.

The guys with 9mm ARs will flock to you if PRK doesn't say that's illegal. If I ever get the HK USC I've been wanting I'll look to you for some .45

The problem is (and I think it has already started) that many online retailers will not bother asking or answering the question, they just won't sell any ammo to CA.

Some will work with us but losing any retailer is bad for competition.

What's going on is that Arnie will not get re-elected. His 2A record is pathetic.
