ive read of a technique that involves using candle wax to help the cartridges go in easier. then again it was on the internet so take it with a grain of salt

I call user error on this one. The ones I got from e-bay work great (uglycarfan was the seller). You just need to practice the right technique. Look on youtube for video's of people loading with stripper clips, it will help you out.

I find that the ones that look like this work really well:

And that ones that look like this with the little "fingers" on the side suck:

Just buy one case of 7.62X54R on strippers.
You will have plenty, and made right.
Also check the way you are doing it, some times it just takes a trick or to to make it easy.

I got these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R845C4/ref=ox_ya_oh_product

They don't come perfect, but all I had to do was pinch the top end a bit to make the stripper clips a little bit tighter against the ammo and then load it like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lll6qVQM1cg&feature=player_embedded. This worked for me perfectly well.

couldn't agree more. the russian steel ones are fine. the aftermarket brass ones are alright as long as you file them and dont cut yourself on the edge from a bad cut. the "fingers" on the chinese ones are *awful*. I *hate* them.

mosins just dont load super well, they're a pain in the butt. if you want easy stripper clip loading, you'll have to get a mauser or a k31. :)

Thanks guys I'll admit a bit of user error but I was using the POS Chinese garbage. I am now in need of some good stripperclips (Russian) where can I get them???(original question)
Savsayn: I have the chinese junk and I need some good ones and I watched the youtube video so I'll be an expert

The problem lies in the stripper clip's bend to accommodate for the 54R's Rim. On chinese steel POS's clips, the bends look like 45-Degrees, so your cartridges' rims get stuck.

On the good clips, the bend is closer to a 90-degrees. I've had good luck some brass repo's clips on ebay. The picture of the clips on Gun Part's Corp, looks like those will also work well, but I've never tried them.

I've never had trouble with the brass ChiCom ones I got from some guy on the former battlerifles forum. I was also able to get a lot of Bulgarian 7.62X54R ammo on blued steel stripper clips from Bain and Davis; they had quite a bit of that ammo on stripper clips several months ago. Those work quite well, as long as you clean off the cosmoline. It seems the shape is the most important part. The ones that look like they are simply flat pieces of metal bent to have three sides don't work worth a darn from what I've seen from others who have them. Also, the gunshows seem to be having less of the cheap, badly made ones and more of the properly made ones, which look like those in the pics above; ammo sites also seem to have them alot more often these days.

The Mosin stripper clips with the "fingers" don't work worth ****.

Ya gotta go authentic. I don't know if he still has any left but there is a man on the Gunboards forums who sells authentic Bulgarian Stripper clips(with the 10 stamp) for $3 a pop plus a flat ship rate of $3. They are sweet because they are blued and don't have these "fingers". It holds onto the rounds quite well and they load extremely well into my Mosin. His username is Louie, might want to make an account over there and contact him to see if he has. I was using some of mine at the range when a guy comes up and asks where I got mine. Naturally he was using those cheap knockoffs, so I gave him one of mine. I prefer to load individually but I got the stripper clips for the novelty, that way I can use them whenever the mood strikes me.

He puts em up for bid on Ebay and I've seen the bids go all the way up to $38 JUST for 6 freaking clips + 3 for shipping. But he does discounts for those who purchase them through Gunboards. He's located in SoCal so anybody living in CA will get them damn quick. I sent the money one day, he got it the next, he sent it the same day, and I received it the next. So from money sent to item received was only 3 short days.

Once you get some good ones, practice a bit with them.
I support the top with one hand and push down with the other, and it works for me just fine.
