I have been a repossession agent for 4 years now and have lived in placer county for the last 2. I have done almost 3 thousand successful and safe recovery's. However I am consistently exposed to danger as I travel 1000+ miles a week a night all over Placer, Yuba, Sacramento, Eldarado, Sutter counties, while often sleeping in rest stops ect. I really would like to apply for the ccw but cant really afford to burn the 275 plus training on a denial right before the holidays. Can anyone let me know my chances of an approval based on this basis.

You are lucky because Placer county is friendly. I would recommend taking your time reading everything you can about CCW and your county. Start here http://www.placer.ca.gov/Departments/Sheriff/Saveatrip/ConcealedWeaponPermit.aspx and request a CCW packet from your sheriffs office. After receiving your packet just follow the steps and make sure your I's are dotted and your T's are crossed. Also the "good cause" is what is going to make or brake your application (given you can meet the other requirements). There are a lot of people with good cause that have been denied because of the way they choose to word their statements. After you practice writing out your GC statement email CCWInstructor here: greg@firearmstraining.com and he will review it and make suggestions about wording choice.

Good luck and let us know the progress as it happens.

Thanks alot Mr. Clamper Sir that just what I needed, I have been researching for a while now I just haven't pinned down my complete GC, I also have this inkling I should wait for the Sacramento case to work it self through the system as It sounds like the fees may be ordered to a more affordable level and wipe away the exclusivity of it all. But that complete course could take a few years.

Btw a co-worker of mine is vice-humbug of chapter 3.

Yeah work on the GC for sure and talk with someone like CCWInstructor to start with. Your occupation may even be a hindrance. If you travel a lot and at night that could be good. Including that you do repos seems like it would help, especially to us normal folks, but LE might view it as a liability for them. You never know, but I'd talk to an expert to start off with.

BTW it sounds like you work with some real scumbags.:)

I was thinking the exact same thing about the occupation, a great deal of GC, but on the other hand could be a presumed liability, I would hope that 4 years of experience and nearly 3 thousand peaceful recovery (on my part) with 0 complaints on my lic number or to law enforcement would have some positive influence on perception of my character.

If your GC is based on your occupation, you may need a letter from your employer. If memory serves me correctly, Placer didn't take my initial check until after the interview, when it became apparent I had been approved. My recent renewal also went very smoothly. I encourage you not to be discouraged.
