the 20 rounds seems like the best deal if they are identical

They look the same thing to me. As an aside though, I really don't like it when vendors list ammo as ".223 (5.56mm)" or the inverse. They are different chamberings, NOT fully interchangeable! :banghead:

Different packaging is all.

In their defense ".223 (5.56 x 45mm)" to me indicates that it is SAAMI spec .223 ammo that can be fired in a 5.56 chamber. Whereas "5.56x45mm (.223)" is a spectacularly dangerous marking for exactly the reason reidnez is annoyed (5.56 spec ammo cannot be fired in a .223 chamber).

The current Federal Lake City M193 is good to go.

Both of them are marked M193, which would indicate 5.56 spec.

The big KEY to the whole 5.56 .vs .223 thing is to know your weapon and it's chamber. Or even better, make sure to buy the 5.56 in the first place and feel free to shoot both.

Are you guys sure that one is not 223 and the other is 556?
Because that is a great price for 20 round boxes in the second link.

XM193 on both. They're the same.

The way you worded your question is funny though. "The price and quantity are different on these two ammos, so are they the same?"

And, on second look, you said quantity, not quality, so its not as funny anymore. Ha, never mind.

Same stuff, buy the cheaper one.

Yea, look at the 500 round quantity price, and part number. Same part number. Identical ammo.

Beware the "loose packed" XM193.
They are rejects that were not acceptable for packaging into regular XM193 packaging.
