MOE doesn't have the friction lock or the sling attachment point.

CTR has the friction lock and a sling adapter hole and the MOE doesnt have either one.

Sorry guys for the stupid question. I understand the no sling attachment but what exactly is the friction lock and what is it's purpose? I don't want to assume anything when making this type of investment.

Thanks.

Friction lock makes sure there is no microscopic movement between the stock and the buffer tube. In my experience with the CTR and the MOE, the CTR isn't worth the extra $30 or $40, my MOEs have been very solid with very little microscopic movement. Truly not enough to notice. Most members here though prefer spending the extra money for the friction lock.
