Hi,
is anyone interested in getting together to buy some plated pistol bullets? West Coast bullets, which is now called Accura bullets, is located in Carson City, NV, and they have a pretty good discount on their plated pistol bullets. Their prices are below retail and less than what can be found at the gun shows. The only catch is that the discount applies if the order is for 25,000 or more bullets. I plan to only buy 5K, so I'm looking for other reloaders who might want to combine our orders to get the quantity discount. Their price sheet is on this link
http://www.accurabullets.com/PDF/ProductSheet.pdf

If I can get enough interest to order 25K, I'll rent a car and drive up to Carson City and pick up the order. I figure gas and car rental, if split across 25K of bullets, would add $2-3 per 1K. I'm willing to put in the time and effort to drive up there if others are willing to add to the order so we can make 25K.

I might be interested. Do they sell anything else? Brass? Powder? How about some idea of what kind of prices they offer?

Can that 25,000 be of mixed variety? NM read the pdf file.

I'm interested, so I've printed out the sheet and will figure out what I need to order. Will try to get an answer by this weekend.

Hey, this is almost identical to my order! http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Well, to answer some questions, they make only bullets. The bullets are packaged in 500rd boxes and you can mix bullet callibers, sizes, and type, as long as you are willing to buy them by the box of 500. So, if you know of some place near Carson City in NV that sells cheap brass and powder, I can drop by to buy some, but I don't really want to drive back with 100 lbs. of powder, maybe 16 lbs. If anyone is having trouble reading the pdf file from the link, I can download it and email to you.

An update here. we've got someone who lives in NV who will deliver it to the bay area. This is a once in a lifetime buy for me so I'm stocking up. If Turby, Ivanimal, or Col Klink want to add to the order, please PM me your contact info and how much of which bullets you want. If I don't hear from anyone, I'll assume you don't want any bullets. I'm buying about 8000 bullets of three calibers so I need only about 6-7K more to make the 25K minimum. Of course, if you want more than 6-7K, that would be fine. Also, the bullets are boxed in 500 rd boxes, so you can mix calibers and weights, as long as it's in 500 rd increments. I'll handle payments after the bullets arrive since I'll be paying the guy who's now taking the order with a check after the bullets are delivered.

I'm in the LA area but it looks like this group purchase is for the North.

Folks,

I am struggling with a dilemma, perhaps y'alls can help.

I want to order 1,000 40/10mm bullets from DWTT, but I am not sure which weight to buy. I want to be able to use the bullets for loads in both .40S&W and 10mm, and would rather not buy two different weights. I don't yet reload for either caliber today, so I have no prior experience with either of these calibers. I want to pick the largest weight both guns can shoot safely.

I was leaning towards the 180gr RNFP, to be used in both, but my understanding is that the 180gr is on the higher end of the pressure spectrum with you load it in a .40S&W case.

Have any of you successfully loaded .40S&W with 180gr, or 10mm with 180gr, or both, or neither, and have comments on doing so?

The answer very well might be that I should stick with two different bullet weights for .40S&W and 10mm. If so, then that's that. Another possibility is that I should consider a lighter bullet for both calibers, perhaps the 165gr or the 155gr. I was hoping to be able to use a heavier bullet in 10mm, though.

Let me know your thoughts - thanks,

You're not in a delima. I don't have a .40, but I have a glock 20 in 10mm. I'm buying 2K each of 155gr and 200 gr. How about this. I'll add 1K 180 gr to my order and just let you try 30-40 rounds of each weight and see which one you like best, then I can sell you 1K of the bullet you like for the same cost as I paid for it. I think I can still get by with 4K of 10mm http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As for the ideal bullet weight, I think that depends on the gun. Some guns with light recoil springs would work fine with light charges, but a gun like my Hi-Power wants more stout charges. Just my experience, though.

Sent you a PM, DWTT - thanks for the offer. Will close this out with you privately.

I don't think any of us are going to LA in the near future. http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Maybe the south Ca folks can put together a group buy. Also, does anyone know if the private messages still work? It doesn't work for me, but then I might not be using it right.

Private messaging works for me, but I have been in touch with a couple other members from Calguns via private messaging, and they said that it wasn't working for them either.

How's the order coming along? I'm committed to the 1k 180gr for 40S&W/10mm! http://calguns.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We have enough for the 25K minimum. I'll check next week when the bullets will be delivered, but I was told the order will be placed some time this week. I'll let everyone know when it arrives.

I'll check next week, but the guy who's delivering it from NV is going to come down when it's convenient for him. Sorry for the suspense.

OK, I'm going to pick up the bullets myself next week. We're all tired of waiting for free delivery. I've sent email to everyone but one.
jtkl, let me know if anything's changed. Also, cost of gas would add $2.50 per 1000 bullets. Let me know if that's OK with you.

I e-mailed you my reply, but here it is again - I'm ok with the $2.50 surcharge and I thank you for doing this for us.
