Mar 8, 2005 5:06 pm US/Pacific
(Bay CIty News) Three teenagers were arrested Tuesday in connection with two recent Bay Area gun store burglaries that netted nearly 70 firearms, including three powerful .50-caliber handguns, said federal and local police officials.
Those booked were identified as Tracy residents Beau Defrenchi and Ryan Carroll and Newark resident Adrien Olivas, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
All three are 18.
An investigation involving the ATF and two Bay Area police departments began after the Feb. 2 burglary at Irvington Arms in Fremont. A total of 34 firearms were taken by suspects who smashed through the front door and display cases.
Two weeks later, someone broke into Dom's Surplus in Livermore and stole 35 weapons.
On Feb. 20, a Fremont police officer pulled over a car during a routine traffic stop and discovered that a gun in the car had been stolen during the Fremont robbery.
Authorities said 23 guns were recovered during subsequent searches and more arrests could be made in connection with the burglaries.
