What are the options on AK calibers? I have a nephew who's kicking around getting an AK or an SKS and he's looking for cheap. He's in Wisconsin, so I'm thinking he'll find better prices out there, but I wanted to give him the low down on ammo prices as well. He's hearing that SKS's will be more accurate and could be used hunting. I'm not sure if that's too accurate. I'd imagine they'll be more accurate, but I don't know about hunting accuracy. Any feedback appreciated.

over on the sksboards guys are always showing off their catches with their bone stock sks's. 7.62x39 can take down a deer easily.

If a round can kill a man, would it really have any trouble penetrating a skull or a rib cage on a deer? Honest question, I don't hunt because I don't really enjoy venison the four or so times I've had it.

The AK platform is a surprisingly versatile one. Everything from an 8mm designated marksmen rifle, to a 9mm subgun, to a .22lr trainer.

I wanna build one in 7.62X25...........I really like that round. I fired a bunch from my CZ and my buddy jumped and asked what the hell that was.
I showed him and he flipped.

Yeah, Tony built that on a Saiga 410 platform IIRC.
IMO, Tony Rumore builds the sickest damn guns around. Come on, who needs a full auto 12 ga shotgun with an 8" barrel? Who cares build the damn thing anyway!!!!!

Rumore for President!

I've got everything to build one in 9mm and 7.62x25 except the barrels... and just added another ex to the list so I might have time to finish them at some point :)

Thanks all, he's sounding decided on the SKS as he is convinced it will be more accurate and that 7.62X39 is cheap. Any quality problems with Various SKS's, like Chinese vs. Yugo vs. Russian? And are Russian SKS's still out there for sale?

Thats awesome. PLEASE post a thread with showing the process if you can. I really really want both of those guns and have zero AK building experience. Are you going to build it at a build party? Keep us/me posted please

PS, what is the least expensive SKS nowadays? I think I remember those Yugos being cheap just a few years ago and now I see them being sold for almost as much as the Russians. After watching that video Tech posted where those guys killed the pigs with an SKS, I have been really wanting one.
