Grabbed a couple of these Ergo rail hand stops (http://www.ergogrips.net/item-detail.cfm?ID=4202-BK&storeid=1&image=hndstops.gif&CFID=39229554&CFTOKEN=14284764) to try on my new AK Draco pistol build. I like them a lot and think they will be great for AR/AK pistol builds, but I think they are also relevant for featureless builds to give a good indexing spot. They aren't as cool as the KAC handstop (and they don't have QD mount anywhere on them) but what the hell, they're only $4.50!

My lightbox is down, so please excuse the cr*ptastic pics. I think they illustrate the functionality okay for now. Oh yeah, they are hard rubber and just pop on over the rail, wherever you want them to. Oh and it may not be obvious in the picture, but they are just the two end pieces, not the rail protector in between - they are not connected. They do have a piece on their underside that sits in the rail slot to prevent them from sliding either way.

Posted these last night, but I guess nobody else was curious about these little guys. :)

Bump the info for the morning crew...

Hm. Interesting. Although they might be a little too small to have the same benefit as the KAC or even a stubby VFG.

I was about to say, "holy schneikes how short is that barrel?!"

And then I read "pistol build."

Nice setup, by the way!

I don't think you can put a VFG on a pistol, though.

They actually give a very positive stopping point and the forward one definitely braces against the knuckle for "forward bracing." Like I said, they aren't quite as effective as the KAC, but if you have a very short AR pistol build these would certainly let you know that your hand is wandering dangerously close to the barrel. These may also work well on a railed shotgun forearm, or like I said, a featureless build. YMMV!

Those are pretty nifty. I had never heard of them before this. How much did they run you?

I DON'T LIKE AK's, but I like that one. Those stops look a little low.

$4.50 - Maybe not worth whatever shipping would be by themselves, but I just threw them into a larger order from the website that I stumbled across them on.

Thanks! They may look low, but they are surprisingly effective at what they are made for - stopping the hand!
