Just wanted to get your opinions on 74 mags... I've seen Polish Tantal steel mags advertised. It would be my guess that the steels would be better in durability and fitment in AK74's. What are your experiences with the two?

both are good, for some reason brown BG mags are tight in all my 74s. Tantal mags never fail. Id get some of each, either way though they will never die. I have seen metal mags dented and not work, but I have never seen a Bulgarian/Russian polymer mag damaged, they are tough.
I saw some show on the history channel where Russian troops trained by doing pushups with hands on top of their AK74s, which were balanced with only the polymer magazine touching the ground. I think that's pretty fkin durable.

I use surplus metal mags in the 47s and surplus polymer / bakelite in the 74s. That makes it easy to tell which is which at a glance and I've never had a problem with them. Aftermarket magazines -- well, I don't have any...
