No luck using the search function.

I have a Stag 6.8 upper and want to convert it to 5.56. If I just swapped BCG's would this be enough or do I need to swap anything else?

You would also need to swap the barrel and magazines.

Your best bet is to sell the upper half you have now and purchase a different upper half.

You might also have good luck offiering it to trade for a similar setup as I'm sure there are lots of people with an extra 5.56 upper that would like to have a 6.8 upper instead.

It would make a lot more sense just to buy a separate 556 upper, you could field-swap them.

Yeah, like me for example.

I want to know why your changing calibers, seeing how the 6.8mm is a better round, is it the price of the bullets, thats the thing thats stopping me from buying an AR in 6.8mm.

Yeah, what's this upper look like? What are the specs? Lots of 5.56s out here...

There's no such thing as "better".

When discussing .556 and 6.8. I agree though, trade for a 556 if you can't afford both.

"Better" isn't a good word to use because one person may feel the 6.8 is "better" because it has more energy, while another will say a 5.56 is "better" because it is cheaper. Neither is right or wrong, just different. But what's better for me isn't necessarily what's better for you...

BTW my answer is "both", having an upper of each and choosing to take one or the other out based on whether or not I want to shoot quality or quantity that particular day.

I have a bushmaster M4A3 patrolemans carbine with fab defense rail and MBUS on it I would love to trade for a 6.8 :).

One of my buddies has convinced my to keep the upper, so it will be staying a 6.8 and in my safe. Thanks for all the input everyone.

Just buy a 5.56 Upper (and mags).

It may cost you just as much as rebarreling the existing upper. For almost the same amount money (if not the same), wouldn't it be worth it to save from all the work and hassle?
