Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a Kel Tec SU 16 CA. Now before all of the ignorant and immature Keltec hating troll post start piling up, let me just say that I am not asking for opnions on whether or not anyone likes this rifle. I am just simply asking about upgrading the sights. Now on to the point of this thread.

I am looking for a point sight that will allow me to superimpose the red dot on to the top of the front sight. It would be nice if it was not magnified but had an option to be magnified. I would also like to upgrade the rear sight so I can see through the point sight with the iron sights if the point sight failed. The problem I foresee is that the front sight cannot be removed without some serious modification and the picattany rail seems to sit too high to allow the normal setups that are used on an AR-15. Does anyone have a solution for this? Here is a picture for reference.

OMG that picture isnt blackberry friendly...I think a Aimpoint T1/H1 would work perfectly, the way they come without any risers

Put the a railed foregrip on it. That might get you a taller front sight. Or you can take off the threaded end on the barrel and maybe fit an ar front sight post with slight mods or go to http://www.ktog.org/ for more info

No red dot will work with stock sights of the SU16 to give co-witness.

A standard AR15 front barrel mounted iron sight and a rear railed iron sight might bring it to cowitness with Eotech or mil-specs setups.

+1

There is no way to co-witness with stock irons. Your best bet (and what I did) was mount a reddot with a quick detach mount. If your reddot goes tits up you cant remove the reddot and go right to irons.

my bad guys. how low are the sights on the SU-16? I just pictured something like this would atleast get the sights in the optic tube:
