Hey guys.
So, I was at the Cross roads of the west gun show in Del Mar this weekend. I gave in and bought a Saiga .223 rifle. I was really excited about my purchase till I started looking at ammo prices. I shoot at Iron sights in Oceanside, and they don't allow steel cased or core ammo . So Wolf and Bear ammo is out of the question. So Is there any not steel, bulk ammo for similar prices out there? Thanks:confused:

Instead of looking for cheap brass cased ammo, you might try to find another place to shoot.

The savings from the steel cased ammo is considerable (+/- $115 per 1000 rounds).

For bulk ammo you can take you pick of Palmetto, Weidners, or ATG. I had all of those delivered as recently as May in California.
ETA: We used to have PMI sessions at Iron Sights

I PMC bought a case of PMC .223 bronze ammo for...............$.31 a round
at a Gunshow a few weeks back.

Two dealers had an Ammo War on Sunday and I was the winner!

Keep looking.....the best price seems to be on the PMC ammo.

No, Your not smarting off. Your just being smart about ammo. I want to start loading, but at the moment the cost of the equipment is what is holding me back.

Why not start collecting 223 value packs from Wal Mart? My WM had a shelf full and then some last week. Another thing to consider is that the UMC 223 are the same prices at Iron Sights and WM. Just an observation..

Here's a good resource:

http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php?caliber=.223

Put in your zip code for shipping costs, and click on Total CPR on the far right to sort by cost per round. Steel case ammo will always be first, but as you scroll down, you'll find the best deals on brass case as well.

They also have Centution ammo for $174.99 for 500 rounds, $350 for a 1000. I just recently bought 3,000 rounds and received it last week. They ship pretty fast too, took about a week once I placed an order.

Palmetto State Armory has PMC 55gr FMJ in stock for $339/1000 +$12 to ship. The only better price I have found lately has been Miwall at the Sacramento gun show. They had it for $299/1000 plus CA sales tax. That put it at approx. $327 OTD.

^^^This...

...and Sportsman's Guide has the same thing for about the same price.

$0.35/round is very good for U.S. factory ammo w/ brass casing and you don't have to deal with the time and hazards of reloading.

just got back from WallyWorld in Cerritos and got 2 boxes of Federal Ammunition 55 grain FMJ 100 round value pack for 39.97 each. The employee there says they have about 20 cases in the back. That comes out to .44 cents each after tax.
