I just purchased a Romanian PSL rifle and will pick it up soon. I have never had any AK type rifles in my time. I never cared for them, but a guy I know needed cash, and I thought I would help him out by buying the rifle. Only thing that anywhere close to any AK type rifle is my SKS.

I have couple of questions to those of who have the PSL rifle.

1. I have seen somewhere on the internet that the rifle has a 1-10" twist barrel. Is it correct? Or, is there any variations?

2. If you reload, do you use 308" bullets? 7.62x54R being 308", I assume I can use Sierra 308" 168 or 175 grain bullets. As a matter of fact, I guess I can use all the components of 308 Win reloading except the cartrdge cases.

3. Do they have accuracy potential as they are designed as a sniper rifle? I have never had a semiauto sniper rifle, and I think it may be a new beginning for me. I wonder if anyone can give me some about this rifle.

They are AK's with a scope, the 7.62 X 54 is much more accurate round than the 7.62 X 39 though; .309-.311 bullet; accuarcy not in the M-14 category; But they are Cool Looking

The PSL is more like an RPK in SVD skin. It is certainly not a "sniper rifle". Even the SVD isn't really a "sniper rifle", more of a DMR. Anyways, the PSLs seem to be lottery (you can thank the monkeys at Century). Check out dragunov.net, they talk about the PSL. Lots of info. Also, search this forum it is rich with info about the PSL.

Don't use bullets over 150 grain - any heavier tends to damage the action of the rifle.

It is 7.62 by 54 so you can not use 308 which is 7.62 by 51 I believe. Mine is accurate. It is essentially a large scale Ak with a thicker receiver. I have been told you can not reload this round, but I am not sure if that is correct. If anyone else knows please correct me. However, Ammo is plentiful.

7.62x54r can be reloaded, if they are boxer primed. I reload for mine all the time.

Buy big cases of ~150 grain surplus and have fun. Bulgarian from JGsales is good stuff.

No, use .310-.311 bullets, like: http://www.grafs.com/metallic/930
