I have an LMT M4 and never tested its capabilities or mine:) I was just curious how accurate is the average AR LMT M4 with minimum rounds through it,16" barrel and 2stage trigger. I am curious becus I am thinking of making my AR into a varmint gun using the current setup but adding a free float rail, bipod and a Burris 3-9x40 scope.

You need to ask Technique that question, he put 10K rounds through one of his LMT barrels.

Because of 1:7 twist

No, because the 55gr stuff is blasting ammo and the 68, 69, 75, 77 and 90gr stuff is all match quality bullets.

You could also shoot 52gr match bullets and get moa performance.

Anybody know whats a decent match grade ammo that is not
toooo expensive?

The Prvi 69 and 75gr match ammo that was out last year was supposed to be sub-MOA and it was less than $.50/round. But it hasn't been around much since and I hear the recent lots were not so good.

Outside of that there's usually no such thing as cheap match ammo.

Thats what i figured? I'm sure it's still cheaper than 308match ammo right?

i personally have no idea. i've put a few thousand rounds down the barrel and i know that it's combat accurate. i've only shot 55 grainers.

I was getting right around 1-2moa with my LMT piston rifle off a sandbag at 100 using PMC.

I would loved to see a target that is 10 rounds 1" group (ie 1moa).... 2moa maybe, but 1moa....... I want target proof... :p

probably more accurate than you or i can shoot. don't ask about it, go out and shoot it and find out yourself!

i love blasting.

that's funny, I get about 3-4 moa with the cheep reloads 55 grain at the bench, and consistantly hit 14" steel at 200 m off hand, but I am using a 14" DPMS upper

I'll work on it next time I hit the range. A few holes were within an inch, but 2 moa was more realistic.

Best I could do with my MRP GP was 3.5 MOA with federal xm193.

Well it was way cheaper than LC, 470 for a case of 1000 vs I believe around 650+ for the LC. So Prvi for me, at least for my first case :43:

In order for you to call it 1moa, EVERY hole needs to be within 1moa.
That should also be at least five 5 shot groups on the same piece of paper.
You don't get the option to pick just your best group and call it the "standard" that your rifle produces.

Here's an example of what my 22 does:

If I showd you ONLY this one, you might get a different impression:

In general, the AR platform is accurate, fast moving round, light and straight plane recoil etc. 1-3 MOA is fine for hitting what you need to hit in a combat situation, 100-200 yards, especially for a 14.5-16.0 standard barrel. Hell, at 100 yards, I can't see holes in paper, and 6" targets on those papers are a mere spec at 100yds. So, unless you are bench shooting, with maybe a scope or spotting optic, and you are spending the $$$ on heavier match ammo, why even try to pinpoint how accurate your M4 is? Sight it in @25 and go shoot. On battle configuration rifles, it's more about buying quality equipment that will last a long time, and take abuse.

There is really only 1 brand that meets your specifications: GaragePlus® DIY's
