I live in north San Diego county and I want to know if there are any ranges nearby that allow me to shoot that

I would try BBM (broke back mountain). There are some people tying to get a group together a couple of threads down. I would copy it for you, but I can't figure out my phone. BBM is in the south county. The people that go out there are cool and I'm sure that they would like to see you and you .50 out there! ;)
:D

If you decide to make a little drive, there's usually a bunch of 50 shooters at Angeles every third sunday of the month.

Lytle Creek Firing Line is closer than Angeles and not only do they allow that caliber, they allow .50bmg and belt fed guns too. They actually have a couple of groups that have those weapons that reserve some of the range periodically. But, you can also go by your self and shoot it anytime you want.

15fwy north of the 210, off at Summit, go west until the asphalt ends. About 10 miles from the fwy. OLLs and rapid fire permitted also.

ETA: Now that I've mentioned this, I think you have to let me shoot it a few times. lol

BBM is in south SD county near the border.

BBM is either a Big Beautiful Man or Broke Back Mountain your choice both will be there.

You can try Pala shooting range but you may need clarification before you go

@Retired, I think you mean "get off at Sierra", instead of Summit. Finding your way from there would be a big headache for non-locals.

Yep, it's closer. Angeles has steel out to 600 yards which 50s can shoot at. I shoot my BMGs and belt feds at Angeles without any problems. Keep watch for posts on CGs which will indicate when groups of 50 shooters will be at either range.

:oops:You are most certainly correct ironhiide; thanks for pointing that out. Summit is an off ramp to shopping.:o Thanks, I certainly don't want to get anyone lost.

Get off at Sierra, which is north of Summit. The remainder of the directions were correct.

ETA: CSACANNONEER, I don't know anything about that range, I just know it was further away for him. Too bad Lytle doesn't have those distances. Sounds like you have a lot of fun at Angeles.

I need to get to a belt fed shoot at Lytle someday. I've never been there so I can't really comment on it. The reasons that I suggested Angeles are two fold, first, the distance and second, the fact that on the 3rd sunday of the month, we can have anywhere from 2 to 20 other 50 shooters there to help him out. I'd really like to suggest that he joins the Coalinga Rifle Club and have access to a very nice 1000 yard range. But, it's a bit of a drive for him.

Not to mention the FCSA match at Coalinga. That is a great place for new shooters to come and get help and advice with their big guns.

It's just a Bohica. There are several other manufacturers who have been making 50 uppers for a lot longer than Bohica has been around. They are still the new guys on the block.

FAR-50... 36" ??
That looks like Domincan .50BMG ammo though... I wouldn't shoot that stuff through ANY bolt gun... :(

Good catch! Please, follow Ben's advise and DO NOT shoot ANY YELLOW TIPPED 50BMG ammo through any 50BMG rifle!
