If I got a choate stock on my saiga wuold I need to get a mag lock around the magazine release and also how complicated would it be to get the stock onto it?

Are you referring to the Choate thumhbole stock? Then yes, you will need a magazine lock/bullet button and 10 round mag. The problem with using a T-hole stock designed for a standard AK is that the pistol grip portion of the T-hole sits right where the trigger is on the Saiga.

So pretty much if I want to put anything cool looking on the saiga I have to get rid of the magazine release.

yes, follow the flowchart at the top fo the page to find more info on what makes a gun an illegal AW, gotta follow the laws

and technically you're not getting rid of it, you're covering it so that you can only use a tool to release the magazine and not your finger

Yep. If you still want a thumbhole stock, there is a factory version for the Saiga. No modification required.

Forgive the threadjack...but does that factory thumbhole stock also run into 922(r) compliance? I'm considering it but just sold all my conversion parts :pinch:

A thumbhole stock is not a prohibited feature for 925D/922r. No need to comply.
