Hello all, I started my own business last year and I am constantly toting around large amounts of cash and always picking up valuable merchandise from my distributors and such. I am wondering what my odds are for acquiring a ccw. Other than a speeding ticket a few years back, I have not had any negative interactions with the law.

As far as my needs statement, is there anything that I should NOT put on there, or should focus on more than others? I live in Los Angeles county so Im a bit sketchy on submitting and getting denied, though knowing me, I would probably try to retain a lawyer at that point.

Any major tips/tricks I should look out for? I know I need to take a training class and such, and Im fine with that. I already have my Utah CCW as well. Now I just need to be able to protect myself at home.

Thanks for any advice available.

I recommend you contact Billy Jack at www.californiaconcealedcarry.com if you are not in a CCW friendly county. You can see what kind of county you are in by checking the map at www.calccw.com

Even if you are in a supposed "no issue" county, I recommend you apply anyway, don't let anyone (general public or any Law Enforcement agency) discourage you by telling you it's a waste of time. You never know until you turn in the paperwork. Also, you should not post anything about your "good cause" in the forums. There is an edit function so you can clear your good cause items from your post above. Check out www.calccw.com and do some reading. There's a lot of good information there.

Sorry, just read that you are from LA County. Get ahold of Billy Jack, he'll help you in LA. They've been looking for folks in LA specifically.

I still haven't figured out why people say don't post your good cause statement. If it's good it's good.

I think it is simply to prevent recognizable cookie cutter good cause statements.

What sfpc said, contact Billy Jack. See about retaining a pro 2nd Amm. lawyer first and have them walk you through the process. Document everything and take your time. They say you only get one shot to make a first impression.

Looks like Ill be contacting Billy Jack. Thanks everyone!

BTW.. Do you think it would be prudent to contact a higher ranking officer at my local sub-station? I may have some connections to them through my father (Local LEO Captain)

Would there be any benefit to this? Maybe to get a good recommendation? Or would this totally not matter?

Thanks again!
