Hey Cg'ers a question about your gear setup.

At the moment I don't have any kind of load bearing rig, but I was wondering what sort of setup you'd run in California.

Mainly I'm interested in the spare mag setup. Are there any 10/10 specific magazine pouches? What options do we have?

I'm so tempted to give this answer...run 10/30's cause if SHTF you'd want 30's, but that's not your question.

Having said that, i've only found one good pouch for carrying 10/10's, it was a camera/utility pouch that held two well. Maybe someone else has more to say.

yea... i wouldn't bother going with a 10/10 set up - if any even exist. do yourself a favor and spend money on a 10/30 set-up.

Get a regular rig, then get/make some 10/30's. OR just stuff the bottoms of the pouches with socks so that the 10/10's will fit properly. I can hear you all laughing, but hey...it will probably work! I am nothing if not practical.

Edit: Thought I'd add that 44mag.com has a special now on G.I. 30-rounders for $8.99. They will ship them to CA as rebuild kits, for $1.50 apiece I believe. You could buy a few of those and make your own 10/30's at a substantial savings over buying premade 10/30's.

I've had some of those sitting in my cart for about an hour. Cant pull the trigger right now. Thanks for the heads up.

And 10/30's are an option. I want to see how easily I could make up some sort of 10/10 fast mag setup.

I spent about a month trying to get 10 round mags into a carry system for competition with lots of failed attempts. Finally switched to 10/30's. Now I use two single mag holsters on my belt and a chest carrier for additional mags.

Any pics of your efforts or final setup?

You could also have custom mag pouches made. Tactical Tailor will do them for about 20 bucks each with no min. qty. order. Turn around is about 4 weeks.
