Saigas are available and they are russian. You can even buy an Arsenal SGL20, which is a russian Saiga already converted. Basically a Russian AK!

If you can build, that opens up your choices. Then there is no listed EBR restrictions to worry about.
For my money i'd go with a Saiga and convert it. You'll get a Russian AK thats
backed by a factory warranty with service provided by Cadiz Gun Works.

Just about all of the AK's on the market are kit builds, thats not saying
it's an inferior product. There has been issues in the past with some builders
employing football fornicating monkeys as gunsmiths.

At least if you go with a Saiga it's Russian monkeys doing the building.
If you build your own you are able to supervise said monkeys.

Is conversion expensive?

Is conversion expensive?

Add about 200$ to the cost of the rifle, and thats doing the conversion yourself.
Like anything it's whatever you want to spend.
My break down
Saiga 7.62 400$
Tapco stock 30$
Tapco G2 FCG+retainer plate 40$
Tapco interfuse Saiga handguard 50$
Tapco pistol grip 15$ -optional
Bullet guide 30$- optional
Mag lock? (I run featureless)

Thats a basic DIY conversion. If you have any questions PM me and i'll help if I can.

Lancaster AK's are nice.

Lancasters are sweet, but they have had some issues lately with non matching kits.
Like any manufactuerer it comes down to the skill of the builders and Q.C.

I've heard that there might be some warranty issues with a converted Saiga.

But what really breaks on an AK?

Just make sure it works before you convert and everything should be fine.

Lancasters are nice as far as a romy kit goes. Saiga would be the closest to a russain as you can get because it is one if you are looking for authenticity. Arsenal would be my first choice but they do cost you an arm as far as an ak goes. I am very pleased with my vector. It was built on a bulgy kit which are high quality kits.
