Some friends and I went out and shot some more homemade tannerite targets in the desert last week. I filmed most of the bangs and created a fun little video, including a 12lb target finale that was pretty cool.

If you like that sort of thing... enjoy!

Great looking fun, next time have objects so you can focus on them. Hard to tell where the next one is coming from.

I think he was using the normal containers.

I've always wondered how people clean up after this though.

This is homemade stuff, not commercial tannerite (too expensive). The containers were little white plastic jugs similar to what you get with the name brand stuff. Some were just in gatorade style bottles. The big one was in a gallon size zip lock bag.

How do you make home made tannerite?

95% ammonium nitrate, 5% aluminum powder (by weight). Don't mix till you get to your shooting site. Transporting it mixed is illegal without special permits.

Is 223 powerful enough to make tannerite go boom?

Is that legal? I have no idea, but seams like your manufacturing small bombs. I just ask because I would like to do it too, but only if it is legal.

Yes, it's legal, as long as you mix it at your shooting site, and don't transport any of it after mixing. Also, you should be sure that if you mix it, you blow it up.

As long as you aren't damaging other people's property or harming anyone it's generally legal.

Don't mix anything else with it. That is considered making a bomb and is illegal at that point.
