hey i have a lower sitting in my safe i want to build a dedicated big game ar to hunt over dogs with. i really want a 458 but i REALLY don't want to spend 1K for an upper i reload so oddball or wildcats are not a problem. I'm not too impressed with the 50 beo cause it shoots a pistol bullet and the ballistics on the 6.8 dont really turn me on either .if i decide on a 762x39 i'll just build an ak i want a minimum diam of 7mm and $ is kinda a selling point i would love to put together my own 458 but im not really up to playing with the ejection port. im leaning toward a 300fireball or 338/221. does anyone have experience with these rounds in an AR platform? any other wildcat recommendations? any tricks on getting a 458 for less than $700?

My .458 made this little sow hit the deck and gurgle blood, it was over quickly.
Destroyed the shoulder it entered in.... exited and left the whole in the neck you can see

A RRA .458 is $705 complete....you just have to wait for it.
Call Marty up at Teppo Jutsu and ask for a barreled stripped upper and BCG.
