hi everyone,

normally i'm just posting in the C&R area, but i got my first Evil Black Gun™ candidate and i thought i'd post this question here instead, since this seems to be where the ak fans are, maybe you guys could help me with my czech vz58.

a bit of a backstory, i drossed the receiver and assembled it from a parts kit from ohio rapid fire. got a few pieces from czechpoint (sporter stock and 10rd mag) and an aftermarket SKS muzzlebrake from some SKS aftermarket part provider in oregon.

so, like most part guns i've heard of, it took a little while to get it working, had mag catch issues with the CA compliance parts and things like that, but its working now and amazingly fun.

i'm lookin' at it tho and thinking it could use a nice paint job and make it my one black rifle (everything else i own is C&R old school stuff).

thing is tho, i dont know what to use, anyone recommend me something? or something to make the gray receiver a bit shinier and keep clean? its just metal at this point and i dont want it to rust obviously.

anyways here are some pics, any suggestions are welcome.

thanks gents

Nice build. Did you want to go with the military issue grey finish, or the CZ imported semi-gloss back? Is your receiver still "in the white"?

as to colors, not sure, that's why i was up for suggestions!

and "in the white"... not familiar with this term, you mean unpainted, just metal? yep.

I would do a earth color or cammo. I use rattle cans from Krylon. My buddy has a SKS he shoots all the time and its all Krylon cammoed and its held up well for over 5 years now.

My vote is for black.

Look into "duracoat", that stuff is magic over a sand blasted surface or parkerizing. They have a vz2000 color under the standard colors at Lauers Custom Weaponry. Its a medium grey and would look great with your black furniture. You have to use an airbrush kit but it's hard as steel once dried, and very professional looking. The website has all the videos on "how to".

On another note, have you seen any bullet buttons for the Vz58?

I have one...you could go grey but I like my black one. I'm not sure what type of paint D-Teknik, but its very durable
