I believe only russians in CA are cash and carry. All others even if c&r by the fed doesn't meet the CA cash and carry law.

The M59 is not CA C&R as there are no marking and no way to check the manufacture date..especially since they were made until 1966.

See Shane's post. The factory with the records was blown up so you can't prove it's 50+ yrs old. Like I said before fed c&r DOES NOT EQUAL cash and carry in CA.

EDIT: I'm not threadcapping, I'm trying to keep people from getting in trouble with the law.

what are the criterea for cash and carry? i was unaware of this category.
As for the m59, i bought it from a wholesaler with my C&R license so there it is. unless that has all changed in the last few years since i bought it.

criteria for cash&carry is technically over 50 years old, with many exceptions. like everything else in california, it's convoluted and confusing, by design. anyhow, the only SKS in california considered c&r is a russian. all others, regardless of age, must be DROS'ed. same goes with myriad other old rifles like hakims that could be old enough, do not qualify and california does not recognize federal c&r status. they just kinda make stuff up and expect everybody to know it seems.

Big mistake by the wholesaler since the M59 does not meet California's standards for not going through an FFL. The Feds regulate what rifle is a C&R, however California has its own regulations that need to be followed, such as having to be over 50 years old to not go through a gunshop. An M59 does NOT meet this requirement.
