These were used in the commercial fowling industry way back when, before such things were rgulated. The "punt" was basically a tiny one-man boat which the hunter laid down in, and steered with small paddles. The gun was mounted to the bow and the whole boat was steered in order to aim. Some of these things fired a full pound of shot. Pretty insane!

Yup, heard the same segment on the history channel on shotguns. Still, thats a pretty impressive piece.
