View Full Version : Do AR-Restors work with 9mm uppers?

My RAW AR does double duty as a .223 and 9mm depending on whether I'm shooting indoor or out. During my last 3gun match I noticed how much muzzle rise I was getting with .223(my CQB upper isn't really ideal for 3gun). I swapped out the light .223 buffer for the heavy 9mm buffer and it seems to help. As a bonus, I don't have to switch buffers anymore to go shoot indoors.

I tried my friend's rifle with an AR-Restor in it and was surprised at how smooth it was so I ordered one for myself. Does anyone know if it's be ok to run with the 9mm upper as well? I believe the basic 9mm buffer is heavier to make up for the abusive recoil operated bolt vs the gas system of the .223. If that's the case, the .223 AR-Restor might not be calibrated heavy enough for 9mm. Which is why I'm asking...
