View Full Version : Which Sling Mount?

I have decided I am going to purchase a Troy Single Point Sling.

But I am unsure of what Buffer Tube Sling Mount to get.

I am leaning towards a simple design of easy of use and reliability like this:
http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Daniel-Defense-CAR-Burnsed-Loop-p/dd%20burnsed%20loop%20rh.htm

Only because I heard that the ones with the swivel mount gunk up in the sand and stop working. I heard about people at chow walking to their tables and the swivel mount falls off the gun.

Which would work best?

The problem with those is they can cut into your hand both when grabbing the grip and when charging the rifle. I have the scars to prove it.

I recommend this one. I have it in my ebay store, but have not gotten around to adding it to my website yet (at least I don't think I have). It is a new product for us:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230381191676&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

The Daniel Defense QD CAR Stock Addapter is simple, and when the sling is detached is barely noticable. You'll need a push button sling swivel as well.

Another great option is the brand new Magpul ASAP Carbine Sling adapter.

I have a huge selection of sling adapters in my ebay store http://www.tacticalstop.com and on my website http://www.tacticalcity.com.

Simpler is better IMO. I use this sling on practically all of my long guns. It is simple, well designed, and it has an easy to use but bullet proof mash hook as well as a quick release:

Lots of simple yet rugged mounts to choose from here:

Use :"stimulus" code for 15% off your entire order.

I really like my asap. BUT, I think i'd buy a Noveske as shown by Jicko before I bought another asap...

I was a BIG fan of Magpul ASAP before Noveske's hit the market.

Noveske's + a QD mount function just like the ASAP, 100%. But the ASAP is noisy and annoying... while if you take the QD swirvel off, the Noveske is just a regular endplate....

So, now, all my rifles have the Noveske's (except the ones that have fixed stocks or UBRs).

i like either the noveske or the asap. id steer away from that DD version only because it isnt ambidextrous....the point of a single point sling is the ability to switch to weak side easily.

I'm not a big fan of the QD swivels. I feel that they introduce a failure point that you don't need.

The ASAP, in my opinion, is the way to go. It's solid and bombproof.

Is it a tiny bit noisy without a sling attached? Yeah. Who cares? I mean, really, who cares? You can't even hear it from 10ft away.

Nobody has mentioned the Z-360 (http://www.tacticallink.com/Products.aspx?Cat=9) - it's a bit like the Noveske but rather expen$ive...

It just annoys the shooter....

Especially if you like to do a bunch of "dry" training

I'd say ASAP, and stay away from the GG&G or DD ones you posted. Those things will split knuckles and rip off fingernails when you charge the handle. I used one for a training session and after my index finger nail was black and I had a few scaped knuckles I took the thing off.

I have never used one of the QD swivels but what happens if it gets inadvertently pushed? Your gun hits the deck. Plus, more parts equal more stuff that can go wrong and break. ASAP is rock solid.

A far as the ASAP being "noisy"? Leave your sling on and it fixes the problem. And as for "dry" training, what's the point without a sling? Doesn't seem practical to train without all your gear.

I don't find it easy getting them to release when I actually WANT to release them so your scenario sounds pretty unlikely.

I went with the VLTOR end plate adapter that has the single point strap slot. No failure point, not sharp. Blue Force Gear UDC single point sling with quick detach from weapon.
