I just got a saiga and I really do love the gun except the stock. Now I know if I put on an adjustable stock with a pistol grip, I have to cover the magazine release with some weird lock and I really don't want to do that. I just wanted to know if there are any types of stocks that I could buy that give the gun the full assault rifle look but I don't have to get the stupid lock around the magazine release. Any advice would be appreciated.

Not too many. Someone over at the Saiga forum is making a nice one from wood.

cant you just use a mega man grip.........i didnt like the stock either but ended up doin more ok a ak convert and adding a mag lock with pg and collapsable stock.

if you want a pistol grip in CA...you have no choice but to use a maglock or a mmg/duraglock grip. That's just the way it is.

What's a Mega Man Grip? Fitting this little guy onto your Saiga receiver might be a little tricky:

However, to fit the Monsterman Grip, you still have to do the full AK trigger guard / trigger group conversion.

I agree.. the buttstock looks slick but the forend is a little bulky.

If you want to have the "full assault rifle" look, then there is no way around the 10-round-mag-limit-with-a-bullet-button-installed (that takes 5 seconds to drop a mag, instead of 1 second.) If you want to "unleash the fury of 30 rounds in 4 seconds" (aka - mag dump) then you gotta go standard-look... boohoo :(

I find BattleRifleG3's furniture very comfortable to shoot including the forend. Biggest problem with it is the long wait time.

My 7.62x39 with his furniture and my 5.45 with factory wood:

I have a factory Saiga wood stock and fore-grip for sale if you're interested. The wood stock shoots a lot nicer and WAY WAY more comfortable than the plastic stock. The angle your trigger hand sits when shooting the wood stock is more like a pistol grip.
PM me if you're interested.

A thumbhole stock is an illegal assault weapon feature on a det. mag. centerfire rifle in CA. It will require a mag lock and 10 rounder.

A thumbhole stock does not require you to apply 922r for the Feds.

Thanks! I love the micro clicks. Much nicer that stock sights.

Hopefully Ironwood Designs will start making some stock saiga furniture as well.

I do agree that stock is nice and i could do without the forend, is there anyway i could get that as a synthetic stock instead of wood?

Pistol grip or thumbhole stock means fixed magazine. I am not sure how you get a Saiga to have "the full assault rifle look" without one. And no an MM doesn't have an assault rifle look...

My advice is to go fixed magazine and then add all the pistol grips, forward grips, etc you want. If you want the look then you have to go fixed magazine (since the law is all about the look of the rifle anyway). If you just want the detachable mag functionality then you have to give up any idea of a pistol grip or thumbhole stock and go with the classic style stock you already have or add something like a monster man grip.

The saiga style stock could have a kydex wrap on it to make it featureless.
