View Full Version : Question about COE

Im in the Marine Corps, and in March I will be back out at Camp Pendleton. I currently have a C&R license, and will renew it after I get out to Cali. Now I saw on the DOJ website it talks about a Certificate of Eligibility, and how this excempts C&R holders from having the 10 day waiting period on C&R firearms. Now my question is this. Is the COE a yearly license or is it a issued till revoked type of deal, and if so how much does it cost. Are there any C&R licensees on here and if so is the COE worth the trouble?

According to the application form the COE is an annual license. The COE fee is $22. But there are also finger print fees you must pay.
Here's a link to the application form. It has all the fee info on page 2.
The COE is only a benefit if you are buying /transferring through a regular dealer/FFL/gunstore in CA.

The finger printing and stuff is a one time charge. You don't need to redo it when you renew.
Many C&R holders decide to just skip it.
